This workshop will focus on working with images printed on vellum. We will discuss which images work with metals and vellum and why. We will go through the process of printing on vellum, printer set up and print your vellum images. Students will learn the application technique of gold and silver leafing with plenty of time to work their images.
Although this is a photo-based workshop, the techniques here can applied to other forms of contemporary art, opening up new paths for creativity
Building and supporting a community is an important part of Creek Road Homestead. Each day will begin with gathering for breakfast, giving us time to get to know and inspire each other, Fostering relationships beyond our time here.
The class fee includes:
Breakfast each morning
Materials: The metal leaf and materials needed for printing, applying and varnishing 4 to 6 images. We will be working on 4x6 images with the addition of one 5 x 7.
Students will need to bring a few supplies (things you probably have at home).
A complete supply list will be provided, if you wish do work on addition images it is recommended you order the supplies needed 2 to 3 weeks ahead the workshop
We will order lunch delivered each day at your expense. Of course you may bring your own. Water, coffee, tea and snacks will be available during the day.
We recommending that students purchase a half mask respirator rated for organic vapors if they have health conditions, if they think they will be using the varnish long term, or if they would be more comfortable with one.
The respirator is available at hardware stores or Amazon and costs around $40.
If one has no health issues and will be using the varnish short term (like during the workshop), an N95 mask is just fine.
